It’s hard to watch.
It’s pretty gruesome. The kiwis were always going to struggle on this tour. But even I didn’t think there would be such a massive gulf between the two sides.
In the 9 days of cricket we have had so far, the Kiwis have never looked like they were in front or the business or that they cared.
Their inexperienced top order have predictably struggled. But its their lack of any sort of fight that annoys me a little.
Ryder seems lazy at the crease. Missing straight ones and padding ones he should be hitting. The openers have struggled against the quicks too, let alone the spinners.
Ross Taylor seems like the only Kiwi who’s showed up. Apart from Vetorri who is always there or thereabouts.
McCullums done shit.
With the ball, they have been relatively better. O’brien and Martin have done a reasonable job. But on the subcontinent that’s just not good enough. You need to be able to come back with the old ball. Arts these two need to learn. Badly.
Vetorri has been in the wickets but he just doesn’t scare you like Murali or a Warne.
I’m hoping the match ends by lunch. Put me and the Kiwis out of our misery.
At least the ODIs should be competitive.
dont worry brother, the triseries would be another one sided affair. the last 2 results would be repeated. the men in blue are gonna consume black caps and the Sanga’s kids in a gulp……
One dayers will be more interesting for simple reason:
Kiwis can’t bat more than 50 overs in any format
SL are clueless how to bat when they are limited to 50 overs
Who kidnapped Sanga and replaced him with Hashan Tillers.
Tha captaincy is baffling. Overly defensive fields letting Vettori pick the runs off. Interesting finish if O’Brien hangs around for an hour.
inside> I know. Its pretty remarkable when we are playing with 450 runs Sanga sets fields like we have only 50.
Just defeats all logic. If we get Vetorri, we are through but Sanga doesnt look like he believes we can get him out.
Sanga seems to think Vettori is Brian Charles Lara in 2001 when he scored 688 runs. He should have kept the catchers in and let Vettori attack. The guy would have got a few boundries but ultimately holed out. With the field out he’s still getting boundries with no risk involved.
well, you wanted a fight………
Full credit to Iain O’Brien for walking, particularly when the umpire was Harper. Jesse Ryder and Martin Guptil too deserve credit for walking.
Brendon McCullum deserves a slap for that fake appeal against Paranavithana.
Paranavithana deserves a few slaps for his doziness throughout the game and for that silly appeal for the bump ball. Then again, given that he hasn’t caught anything he was probably celebrating not dropping the ball.
wow, you were right about Vettori man… without him NZ are pretty shit… 😕
When it comes to playing in the sub-continent, NZ has progressed just as much Bangladesh has progressed in Tests. Dan Vettori looks like a tragic hero, standing tall amid ruins and wrecks.
EM- I did, but the situation was made kind of weird with Sanga acting unlike himself.
Inside> O’brien was stupid, he shoulda hung around to see what would have happened. But I guess its nice that he walked.
Chavie- NZ= Vetorri atm
Som>Vetorri is in the same rank as Chanders. Those two teams are blessed to have them
