Inter-Prov Finals day 1

Well, well, well.

The Premadasa threw all predictions out the window  on day 1.

What a ripper of start to the finals. 14 wickets gone and a result is assured.

We like.

After winning the toss and batting, like we said they should, Wayamba were 5 down with less than 100 on the board. The big 4 – Udawatte, Vandort, Mubarak and Hunukumbura all failed.

Daminda Dashanapriya was all over Wayamba and ripped through the middle order with ease.

5-55 on day 1 at the RPS in the Final is sexy.

The Waymaba bowlers could have been warming up with less than 200 next to defend if it hadnt been for ex-SL leggie and all roudner Kaushal Lokuarachhis ballsy 70 and his partnership of 65 with opening bowler Tisara Perera.

With only 223 on the board, Wayamba needed a to bag at least 2-3 wickets to close the day.

They got 4.

Tisara Perera backed up his runs with an early wicket and then the spinners started to make things happen.

Mubarak backed up his lack of runs with 2 wickets. We are still confused as to what to make of all this.

Mubarak all-rounder? Fuck me.

The pitch’s taking spin already but B.North still have their main dude at wicket – Matthews.

But with Ian Daniels, Kandamby and Kaushal Silva all warming their seats in the dressing room there isn’t much support.

If Wayamba can get Matthews and Pushpakumara early tomorrow, 223 will look a long way off for favorites B.North.
