Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe, 0 0 0 0 0 0, 7/3

Stats are fun.

0 0 0 0 0 0, those are the collective scores of the last 6 batsmen from Zimbabwe in the first ODI.

7 for 3 comes close to being the near perfect collapse. England would be proud.

It was a mismatch.

There is no fun is watching Giants slay ants.

Its like watching Warne bowl to Cullinan, its fun for a while but then its the same old story and it gets boring. No matter how interesting Warne made it.

Sri Lanka did their best to make a match of the whole thing though.

Lost a wicket with a run on the board to raise hopes of a collapse of their own.

Sangakkara tried to bat right handed and ended up with a strike rate worse than Kallis in test cricket.

48 off 148, what do you think this is Kumar? Its not Ireland or anythign for fucks sake.

Between Mahela and him, they have more important things on their mind, like what journalists back home are writing about them in the papers

When not stealing blog posts for their back page articles cuz to meet their deadlines.

Mendis bagged a 3fer and remains well on course for the 25 wickets I predicted.

Murali did ok.

Most of the crowd had left at that stage. The few who remained were asleep.

In the end SL got home, staggering and limping, kinda like how you come home fromΒ  few drinks, not completely piss drunk that you cant tell your mom from your dad, but drunk enough that you knock over a few vases and ornaments.

Time to Sober up for the next game.

Murali did ok? He only picked four wickets, thats probably his worst performance against a minnow.
Honestly, why is Sri Lanka even touring?

hehe yeah I figured. While we’re watching matches with the biggest audience of billionaire’s cricket has ever had, I think we should try figuring out what’s keeping them all so entertained, I mean they don’t even get to hear Fernando’s commentary πŸ™‚

Frankly, this is embarrassing for both sides. Zimbabwe can play a lot better than this, but ZC’s blind devotion to ridding the game of anyone white is getting in the way. Under Robin Brown’s tenure as coach, we beat Australia, beat West Indies, and held our own in pretty much every other game we played, playing pretty much the same side that’s playing now (Brendan Taylor being the only omission) – but new coach Walter Chawaguta is on record as wanting nothing more than to show associates who’s the boss, and is completely out of his depth at this level. To say nothing of Utseya’s captaincy, which is going from bad to worse, and the fact that for political reasons the team being fielded is a long way short of our best – even if you were just chosing from the players who haven’t fallen out with ZC yet.

So Zim fans are as frustrated as any Sri Lanka fan that the series is so one-sided – it’s not what anyone wants, and from our point of view it only increases the pressure on our full member status. But our board are a bunch of bigoted fools with barely 3 games of cricket-playing experience between them, only there to line their own pockets, and this is the result. Woeful, woeful, woeful.

maehra> its a real shame whats happening in zim cricket at the moment, but i really think the best option for them is to make their domestic structure before thinking about internationals. getting defeated like this serves no purpose. they wont learn anything this way.

thanks for adding the link buddy! I saw your blog on inbox, and I agree they really massacre them, but by and large its a very positive step forward for a cricket site. If you want to see a poor cricket website thats always playing catch up, check out the BCCI’s website, it doesn’t even make the first link when you put in the google search string.
Sorry for the BCCI rant, but the truth is this series should not be taking place and its only because they need the ICC vote.
