Test cricket lives

There is so much cricket going on at the moment that its hard to keep track of all of them. The underlying factor is though that we have an option, after a month of no cricket in September, the Australian summer has started, so too New Zealands, if they ever have a summer that is. And India’s managed to overcome the devastation in Mumbai.

Arguably the best of the series coming up is the South African tour to Australia.

The two best test nations, according to the points table, go head to head. SA are chasing their first series win in on Australian soil. It seems everyones is out to try and topple the Aussies to prove that long standing premise of Australias demise.

India added to that debate at home, NZ came and got walloped in Aus. SA seems to be the best bet if we are going to see Australia loose a home series in – forever. However, The absence of a spinner might hurt them in an otherwise evenly matched contest.

Bookmark Dec 17th, sweaty fast bowlers, bouncers, runs, wickets and cracked skulls await us at Perth.

At the other end of the table, NZ and WI battle to earn bragging rights to be not called the worst test team in the world.

Bangladesh might be at the bottom but being at 8th spot on the table means you are the worst team in the world from the countries that can actually play cricket. Which is not something either team should want to be known as.

Both teams are in a rebuilding phase, NZ are under a new coach and WI under Gayle have been stringing some good performances together in ODIs.

But once again this is a 2 test series which annoys the life out of me. Test tours should be a minimum of 3 tests. Instead they will play 2 Twenty20 games and 5 ODIs. Boring. Those could have easily been made into 1 2020 and 3 ODIs and slotted in another test.

Kiwis and their fans always complain about not playing enough test cricket. Perhaps their adminstrocrats need to be blamed for most of that. The boards must push for this regulation of a minimum 3 test series and get the ICC to agree.

More test cricket never hurt anyone.

In India, 2 ODIs were called off but the test series was saved. Debunking the theory that India does not care about test cricket. However, a closer truth might be that India loves money more. Either way, I am not complaining.

England are a better test team that they are an ODI team, at least there is a general feeling they know who their starting line up is. India are overwhelming favorites at home. Under Dhoni, the man with the magic tough, England will really have to play above and beyond their potential to avoid a series defeat.

There is nothing better than waking up to findout that the CL has been postponed, ODIs have been canceled and everyones settling in for some lovely test cricket.

May it always be this way !

Sach > Why not take Modi out completely ?

The real Buddhika > An error on my part. I agree.

TOB> Morne will be interesting, how about G Smith ? That would be a good laugh for everyone.

SP> I saw this picture that showed some kids playing cricket near a part near the hotel that caught fire about 2 days after the attack.

Cricket will help India come together again.

Scorpi> A fair call, I think the Saffers will run Aus close, but I wonder whether lack of variation in their attack will come to haunt them.

Im with you on Amla, He is like to make a big impact.

Sam> Cricket might help the Indians take their mind off these tough times ?
