The Elephant in the room

The IPL auctions happened.

It dint even register with me.

The Englishmen went for big numbers. Good for them.

Thilan Thusharas had picked up a nice little paycheck. Good for him.

Lalit Modi’s gloating about how his brainchild hasnt been hit by the recession. Good for him.

The IPL is not something I go out of the way to make time for.

I’d do it for a test match but not for a 3 hour slogfest.

I was more than happy to  just check the scorecards on cricinfo the day after last time. I’m guessing I will follow a similar routine this year.

A lot of people who were anti-IPL have been converted, but I still havent caught the bug yet.

The big story was of course kitten Mortaza. 50k to 600k. I’d probably convert too if that were me.

Nuwan Kulesekara’s unlucky not to get a bid in. He’s had a pretty good year.

Spare a thought for the rest these buggers though.

The poor sods

Yes I have to agree, I thought the 4th ODI got boring after a while, but boy was that some brilliant batting in the first half. I also have to wonder why Sachin was rested and why Jadeja and Balaji were not given a shot. But anyway as you say, when cricinfo’s commentary for the Aus-NZ 2nd ODI claims that it is a much more interesting match than the grind between India and Sri Lanka, you would have to say we need to amuse ourselves with other things.

Also I was wrong, Murali did get the record in this series. Gambhir, not Yuvraj, but Yuvraj was 502, so nice call.
