What is a haircut? Simply somethin to keep your hair in place or a fashion statement? Well for cricketers today…its a major fashion statement. If you’ve failed to notice all the bleach that is found in people’s hair these days…well then you must be enjoyin that rock you’re livin under! The originality and confidence to hav haircuts like these should be applauded but are they really benefiting anyone?
Take Lasith Malinga. Probably one of the best fast bowlers in the world…but is the long curly hair with the blonde highlights really necessary? Im sure everyone agrees its hardly practical for bowling…you go in to bowl the ball and whats the first thing you see…yep BLONDE right in front of your face…but how can he be the one of the best bowlers in the world if he can’t even see where he’s bowling? Your guess is as good as mine. Malinga has had his range of blondes as well…we’ve had our sandy blonde and our bleach blonde…and yet he jus can’t let go of the blonde! Yet with this hair…he has managed to be named sexiest cricketer in the world cup…i guess that whole tall, dark and handsome thing is a bit overdone :P…
Another crazy long haired fast bowler is Ishant Sharma. Unmistakely a fantastic bowler at 19 but is the long hair really doin him any favours? You’ve got to admit that his hairstyle is hardly a fashion statement…more of a disaster…especially when bowling in the sub continent!…isn’t the practical use of the long hair to keep your neck warm…well you’re burnin up as hell in the sub continent as it is…its hardly helpin the man! When asked bout his hair he said “I started sporting long hair as a style statement, but now I am really superstitious about my hair. I am not going in for short hair ever!” A style statement?!…really ishant…are you sure?! :P…
But really…could hair actually be a good luck charm?…these are the questions we can never answer…but it doesn’t stop our cricketers from tryin :)!
Nice read,
for me these hairstyles just makes the game more interesting, i guess not for everybody.
You missed the hairiest of them all – Ryan Sidebottom.:)
Ottayan you are right.
I cannot believe Milla missed him
I have to reconsider her posting authority on flyslip !
thanks guys 🙂
and damith…you missed him too :P!
Milla> As an author on Flyslips balls we do expect more from you.
Consider this strike one…tsk tsk…
What do you guys have with long hair in the first place? I also have sort of long hair… 😉
Btw who did write this? Da-Myth or Ca-Mylla? 😀
Seriously, they add some flair to the game I’d say. Isn’t Mali is a treat to watch? And KP wasn’t that bad either, though I have to admit that Sharma sucks big time.
And adding some flair in this manner is rather good than cheerleaders I guess…
The one> Credit goes to Milla.
We love hair.
Because at flyslip (as the title says)- we look for missing balls.
This invariably means we must deal with hair(in all shapes and sizes) at one point or the other if you catch my drift
Regarding Sharma. Milla is contemplating a sequel, cuz Sharmas hair deserves it.
damith…don’t be mean to the newbie 🙁
and yes i am indeed considerin a sharma sequel!
i will intently watch his hair progress 😛
Calm down Milla, your not losing your hair or something are you ?
Very great article! I do like longhair on men and I’m sure its a precious gift a man can have. Sikhs, Nazirites, Native Americans, and so on, are associated to virility and braveness, not only because they were what they were, but ’cause of their nice hair! Woman started doing the same, just when they were left behing in History. Slaveness was substitued by machines, and employees lost their self-esteem. Longhair means self-esteem and good mental health.
sharma ‘s hair is the coolest.
y did u miss symaonds??
Lol that’s not even Chris Brown. It’s a look a like.
i loooove Malinga… I like the shorter hair he had during this year’s IPL & last night’s big blonde do… I love how unfazed he is & I also loved how he smiled as he walked onto the pitch only to get out immediately…
