Subject: RE: From The IslandHi,
Thanks for your reply.
I do not mind my articles being published on your website or on in print as long as citations and and reference are given to my blog and credit given to me as the original author of the work.
As a journalist your self I am sure you are all too aware of consequences of plagiarism.
Cheers,
Damith.
To which the Editor replies with
Thanks.

I am a little confused as to what exactly you will do to sort out this issue.
Will you be citing my blog as the source and will you indicate me as the original author of these works?
Kindly inform me of what steps you will take to ensure the correct actions are taken.
-Damith.
Thanks ? For what ?
He steals my work and then pretends everything is hunky dory.
Should I write a hate post and email it to him.
Or should I write to another newspaper in Sri Lanka informing them about this as some of you have suggested.
The upside of this I could become a minor celebrity. I always wanted someone to wait at the airport for me with one of those things you put around your neck with flowers on em. Godamit I forget the word for it right now.
I could become the
‘the blogger who floored the island’
‘the boy who owned the island’
‘the island boy’
all very catchy, Im sure you guys can come up with something better.
βthe island boyβ is a bit gay. don’t ever go for that. besides u aren’t exactly a ‘boy’ anymore aren’t u?
Prabath your bad m8, have u ever studied journalism before you got the job?? if not gtfo and do it..
These one liners determine tht they r under pressure of getting fired tonight. very unprofessional.
Tell the rival publications. They’ll run with it for sure. I hate plagiarists. Don’t let them off the hook mate and you have the support of all the crew at 99.94.
The word ur looking for is “garlands” π
Those are very strange replies from the editor… i wonder if he meant contact instead of contract…
Make sure somehow u have copies of the island webpage where ur article came up, they ma look to remove it.. so u better have proof with u – maybe as a print out or some other form..
Keep pushing them for credit on the existing post..
Actually a contract for publishing your blog posts on paper would be cool.
Damith, this sucks.
Last year, I had a similar experience.
This is the link to my article, it is followed by links to the plagiarised post. It’s still there with the wrong credits.

Pls mail me at the BCC! email address – bcciwrites@gmail.com

cheers, nc
scorpi > yes it would. but i honestly dont think they are going to do anything.
I will keep pursing it though.
sach, sachit, thushal> thanks for your support guys
Nesta> thanks for your support mate. I will keep pushing them and see what happens.
Q> Good idea buddy will keep a copy. I have checked, but still the article is on their web page with no credits.
Naked Cricket> I emailed you. Pls do check.
Cheers.
NC, Damith… Check out copyscape… if it can be implemented.
Ha ha !!! π
Damith the next Island Editor π
