The Sri Lankans began preparations for the upcoming ODI series against the Taibu-less Zimbabwe by playing a 4 day game against some random team, that probably wont last more than 2.
Flyslips own Splendid Mendis was once again in fine form bagging the easiest 4fer in his career.
At one point Ajantha bowled with his eyes closed in an effort to make the game more interesting.
It resulted in 2 batsmen getting bowled.
Fernando who we lovingly call ‘sharapova’ for that well timed grunt at delivery stride struck early and Zimbabwe went into a nose dive.
Ending up with 159. Which is still better than England.
Udawatte provided the early life in the Sri Lankan innings, by edging one. He was later called back when he found out that the Zimbabweans had dropped it.
Upul Tharanga, also had a good day at the office. Following on from his heroics in SA earlier this year he helped Sri Lanka end the day with just over a 100 runs to get with all 10 in the shed.
So by all counts it seems this series is wide open as predicted by me here.
I don’t know if I can name five players in this Zim team. WTF man… we should have sent our U-19 team.
Oi! Cheap shot about England – but Oh! – sadly true. For closer contests perhaps we should swop – your boys to play India, mine to tackle the might of the Zims?
Great site! Have added you on the blogroll.
Cheers!
Ceci>Im glad you picked up on that 🙂
Id pay money to see Eng-Zim. I think they should play it in Abudabi. Apparently that venue makes average teams play good cricket and ugly keepers hit 6s.
don>Cheers mate. And welcome!
Zimbabwe? Don’t even get me started. Politics aside, thier cricket is attrocius and should be demoted to Associate status until they rebuild their infrastructure and field a team worthy of the game.
Theena> I know exactly what you mean. to be honest we shouldnt even be touring them. And they have no place in international cricket at the moment.
thanks for stopping by.
Ah! Zimbabwe… Splendid Mendis will be licking his lips.
How Strange.
We are no longer talking about Murali anymore.
